I'm a bit late to the show, I know. Anybody who has an interest in photography has been influenced by this hipster movement and has probably been digging through the thrift shops, pawn shops, and online auctions for that great deal on a film camera.
But I believe my timing is perfect and my reason is mine. My passion for photography has always been there, but the fire is bigger because of my fathers love for capturing memories. I won't be able to show him the photos I take with 35mm film for he passed away on Feb 16th, 2016 but I carry with me his love for photography each time I click the shutter.
I want to be a part of the process the same way he was, in the dark room for 13 years. I want to be familiar with the different types of film the same way he knew exactly what fuji looked like vs kodak when developed properly. I want to shoot knowing that each memory captured has some sort of subject I love...the same way he did. Family, friends, travel, and nature. He captured memories without caring if he was in the photo. His sole purpose of taking photos was to remind you of your memories that day. I shall be that instrument to others the same way he was for us. To capture each memory perfectly and have you remember it like yesterday.
Today, my journey with film begins because of you Pa.
Thank you for all the memories, developed or not, I remember them like it was yesterday.
